At DVC we offer a wide range of legal and dispute resolution services to our clients in
relation to employment and Human Rights. We provide timely and cost-effective advice, representation
and service to our clients that is informed, creative and effectively meets their particular
needs and interests.
Our Employment and Human Rights Services include:
- Advice and assistance in the proactive planning and structuring of employment relationships,
the negotiation and preparation of employment contracts and policies and the management of day-to-day
employment concerns. We also provide advice and representation regarding wrongful dismissal and
other employment disputes and proceedings.
- Advice and assistance in the preparation of policies and employment contracts that comply with
Human Rights requirements and matters such as the accommodation of disabled employees.
We also provide advice and representation in the investigation and hearing of complaints.
- Advice and assistance in compliance with Employment Standards requirements regarding matters
such as wages, employment records, hours of work and overtime, annual vacation pay, leave and
termination of employment. We also provide advice and representation in obtaining variances
and exemptions under the legislation and dealing with complaints, investigations and determinations.
- Advice and assistance regarding employment, Human Rights or Employment Standards issues
that may arise on a sale, purchase or restructure of a business or organization including
termination obligations and re-assignment of employees. We also prepare confidentiality and
non-compete agreements for key staff.
- General advice and assistance in the structuring, implementation and administration of
benefit and pension plans and advice and representation concerning plan issues that may arise
on a termination of employment.
